Prabowo: RI Has The Biggest Rice And Corn Reserve In History

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said that national food reserves, especially rice and corn, currently reach the highest level in Indonesia's history.

"We just passed 6 months of our government, but our food production has exceeded our own targets and estimates," the President said in his speech at the opening of the 49th Convention and Exhibition of the Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) at BSD, Tangerang, Wednesday, May 21.

Prabowo said, based on the report he received, the amount of rice and corn reserves in government warehouses is currently the largest in Indonesia's history.

In fact, he said, the relevant authorities were worried about a shortage of storage space due to a significant increase in production, until finally an improvised warehouse was built.

The President emphasized that this success was achieved not because of complicated policies, but because of reasonable and oriented decisions of the interests of the people.

Prabowo said that the achievement in the food sector is proof that if the government adheres to the principles of common sense, the results can look fast and real.

"What is important is that the policies we take are reasonable policies. Common sense, making sense, resolving problems and being oriented towards the interests of the Indonesian nation and people," he said.

Previously reported, Indonesia recorded significant achievements in the food security sector with government rice reserves (CBP) which reached 3.8 million tons as of May 18, 2025.

This figure is close to the strategic threshold of 4 million tons, and is proof of the success of synergy between the government and Perum Bulog.

Based on the projection of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), rice production in the first semester of 2025 reached 18.76 million tons, an increase of more than 11 percent compared to the previous year.

In addition, Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman also said that Indonesia recorded a new history in food production this year. National corn production rose by 39 percent, the highest in history.
