Former Director General Of Binapenta And PPK Of The Ministry Of Manpower Reportedly Become KPK Suspects Regarding Allegations Of Extortion Of Foreign Workers

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named eight suspects for alleged corruption in the management of the Plan for the Use of Foreign Workers (RPTKA). One of them is Suhartono as the former Director General of Manpower Placement and Expansion of Job Opportunities (Binapenta and PKK).

"These eight suspects came from the Ministry of Manpower. One of them is S as the former Director General of Binapenta and PKN," quoted from a VOI source on Wednesday, March 21.

Suhartono is known to have retired on August 31, 2023. A number of social media at the Ministry of Manpower, including the official account of the West Bandung Center for Job Opportunities (BBPKK) uploaded a full-fledged congratulations.

Meanwhile, KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo has just explained that there are eight suspects who have been named in this case. He is still closing the identity meetings of the suspects.

"In full, we will convey it," he said to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 20.

On a separate occasion, Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu said the alleged corruption in the Ministry of Manpower was related to the extortion of prospective foreign workers (TKA) who would work in Indonesia. These suspects allegedly asked for money.

"(The Ministry of Manpower at the Directorate General of Binapenta collects or forces someone to give something," Asep said when confirmed by reporters, Tuesday, May 20.

Asep said the suspects were suspected of violating Article 12e or Article 12b of the Anti-Corruption Law. The practice is alleged to have occurred for the period 2020-2023.

Previously reported, the KPK searched the office of the Ministry of Manpower on Tuesday, May 20. The forced effort was made by investigators to look for evidence of alleged corruption related to the placement of foreign workers or the management of the Plan for the Use of Foreign Workers (RPTKA).

The results of the search have not been informed. Investigators are still analyzing the findings obtained as long as forced efforts are carried out.
