MANOKWARI - The number of victims who died due to flash floods and landslides that hit Jim Village, Catubouw District, Arfak Mountains Regency, West Papua, increased by three people.
Head of the SAR Agency Manokwari Yefri Sabaruddin said the joint SAR team managed to evacuate three victims during the humanitarian operation on the fourth day.
"The death toll who had been evacuated until the fourth day was nine people," Yefri said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 20.
He explained that the evacuation process for the three victims took place from 09.30 WIT to 11.40 WIT, and was then sent to the West Papua Police Bhayangkara Hospital in Manokwari for identification.
The team was forced to stop operations at around 12:46 WIT due to extreme weather constraints, and will resume searching for 11 other victims on Wednesday (21/5).
"The number of victims is 24 people. Four people survived, nine died, and 11 victims are still being searched," he explained.
"The search is still manual and assisted by drones for mapping. Heavy equipment cannot be shifted to the disaster site," said Yefri.

Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, said the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team had identified five victims who were evacuated on May 19.
The identities of the five bodies include Yoseph Ermilianus Efrem (21), Porman Takaliumang (53), Okden Wote (39), Joni Rahawari (40), and Oce Takaliumang (45).
"The victim died which was found the first day after the disaster, named Harun Maidodga. His body has been handed over to his family," said Benny.
