Selling Has Been Limited Until 6 Am, Street Vendors Are Desperate To Fill In With Trotors In Garut, Ordered

JAKARTA - The Garut Regency Government (Pemkab) controls street vendors (PKL) who sell beyond the time limit for operating and disrupts community activities because they sell on roads and sidewalks around the Guntur Ciawitali Market area.

"In order to know that operating hours here are limited to 6 am, after that no one is allowed to sell around this road," said Head of the Department of Industry, Trade, and Mineral Resources Energy (Disperindag ESDM) Garut Regency, Ridwan Efendi during the control of street vendors on Jalan Merdeka, Garut, Monday, May 19, confiscated by Antara.

He said that the Garut Regency Government had previously made an appeal regarding the prohibition of selling on the streets and sidewalks, then issued a Garut Regent Circular regarding the limit on the operational time of selling street vendors.

All street vendors who usually sell on the streets of Guntur Sari Street and Merdeka Street around the main market, he said, the government is still allowed to sell with a time limit of up to 06.00 WIB so as not to interfere with community activities in the morning.

"The operational fee, as circulated until 6 o'clock, is 'clear', not at 6 o'clock, so before that hour," he said.

He explained that the rules for limiting time were tolerance from the government to street vendors so that they could continue to sell and also not disturb other general people.

He also appealed to traders to comply with the circular, as well as people who usually shop around the road to find out their operating hours, and can shop before the set time.

"We will continue to follow up, monitoring and patrols will continue to be carried out, and enforcement by the relevant apparatus in this case is the Satpol PP," he said.

Secretary of the Garut Regency Satpol PP Iwan Riswandi added that his staff followed up on circulars related to the issuance of street vendors in the Jalan Merdeka area and Jalan Guntur Sari for smooth traffic and community activities.

He said that so far there have been many complaints from the public regarding the traders along the road which often cause traffic jams in the morning.

"Starting at 05.30, we will continue our steps from the Regent's circular letter, then for the buildings on the sidewalk there is also a warning that they dismantle, a total of nine units of buildings," he said.
