Dedi Mulyadi: KPAI Shouldn't Correct Lacks, But Handle Problems Of Teenagers

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said that the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) should not only correct the Special Character, Discipline and State Defense Education program launched by the West Java Provincial Government, but also take steps.

"KPAI should have its direction today, not correcting the shortcomings of activities carried out for emergency handling of a problem," said Dedidilan ANTARA, Monday, May 19.

Dedi made the statement in response to the findings of the KPAIstu who participated in the program not being determined based on the professional psychologist assessment, but only the recommendations of counseling teachers (BK), as well as recording 6.7 percent of students stated that they did not know the reasons for participating in the program.

What KPAI has to do is take steps to solve various problems experienced by our teenage children. Is it because of problems at home, or school, which ultimately lead to criminal acts," he said.

Dedi said KPAI could create a program targeting thousands of problematic students in West Java to be educated so that the problem would be resolved.

"If KPAI is busy continuing to take care of bed problems and the like, it will not be able to solve problems," he said.

In addition, Dedi said KPAI could see the impact on the problematic students who participated in the West Java Provincial Government program.

"KPAI can see yesterday that 39 children have finished, how is the child's condition, his discipline, then his sense of empathy, even he cried in front of his mother kissing his feet. It's not necessarily that education is obtained at school," he said.

In addition, Dedi Mulyadi said that on Tuesday (20/5), 273 students would graduate from the program which took place at the State Defense Education Depot for the Main Military Regional Command III/Siliwangi, West Bandung Regency, West Java, this.

He said that the West Java Provincial Government in the future plans to develop 15-20 thousand problematic students through the Special Character, Discipline and State Defense Education program.
