Arrest Thugs, Police In Pekanbaru Treated After Being Stabbed

PEKANBARU A member of the Senapelan Police, Aiptu Chandra (47), was seriously injured after being stabbed by a thug when he was about to arrest a fugitive in a violent theft (curas) case. The incident occurred on Jalan Karet, Sago Village, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City, Sunday, May 18.

The stabbing perpetrator is known as Jufrizal (41), a recidivist who has been in and out of prison four times. Initially, Jufrizal was arrested without a fight. However, the situation changed when the perpetrator's lover, Citra Lusiana, came to the location and pulled the victim's hand.

"At that time, the perpetrator took advantage of the victim's negligence and pulled the curved knife from his waist, then stabbed Aiptu Chandra's left wrist," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Pekanbaru Police, Kompol Bery Juana Putra, in his statement, Monday, May 19.

As a result of the stab, the victim was seriously injured and immediately rushed to the Bhayangkara Hospital of the Riau Police for intensive care.

After stabbing, the perpetrator fled. However, he was arrested by the Pekanbaru Police Resmob Team together with the Senapelan Police Opsnal Team in the Hangtuah Street area.

When he was about to be arrested, the perpetrator tried to escape again, so the officers were forced to paralyze him with a shot that hit his leg.

The police also confiscated a round knife used by the perpetrator to attack the victim. During the examination, Jufrizal admitted that he had served several criminal sentences, three times in Bagan Readyiapi and once in Pekanbaru.

Meanwhile, Aiptu Chandra's condition is still in intensive care at the hospital. The police stated that they would ensnare the perpetrator with a serious article for assaulting the officers on duty.
