JAKARTA A woman in a veil with the initials MW (44) was arrested by the police after allegedly stealing a laptop on a Transjakarta bus on the Rempoa 'Blok M route, South Jakarta.

Head of Resmob Satreskrim South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Bima Sakti, said that the perpetrator was arrested in the Kebayoran Lama area, South Jakarta, Thursday (15/5).

"The Unit 5 team or Resmob managed to secure the perpetrator who allegedly stole the bag containing the victim's laptop," said Bima, Friday (16/5).

The chronology of the incident began when the victim boarded Transjakarta from Rempoa to Blok M, Wednesday, April 9, at around 16.30 WIB. The victim sat on the bench near the entrance with a laptop. He then moved to the seat and did not realize that his laptop was left behind.

After arriving at Kebayoran Lama and getting off the bus, the victim just realized that his laptop was left behind. When he returned to check on Transjakarta, the laptop bag was gone.

The victim then contacted Transjakarta and made a report to the South Jakarta Metro Police. Based on CCTV inspections, the police managed to identify and track down the perpetrators, who were later arrested in Kebayoran Lama.

MW has now been named a suspect and charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft, with a threat of up to 7 years in prison.
