Thugs Under The Guise Of Mass Organizations At Kramat Jati Main Market Intimidate Retired Police

JAKARTA Six thugs under the guise of members of community organizations (ormas) at the Kramat Jati Main Market, East Jakarta, were arrested by a joint team from Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro East Jakarta, and Polsek Kramat Jati.

The six perpetrators were arrested after being involved in acts of thuggery and intimidation against a retired member of the National Police who served as head of market security. The incident went viral on social media.

One of the perpetrators known to have the initials PP was arrested at his rented house located not far from the Kramat Jati Main Market. During the examination, PP admitted that he only pushed the victim with his body.

"The victim is known as Iptu Teguh, who is the Head of the Kramat Jati Main Market Security," said Kramat Jati Police Chief, Kompol Rusit Malaka, on Thursday, May 15.

The six perpetrators who have been arrested have the initials S (56), S (61), RM (39), K (38), Z (43), and S alias PP (43) respectively.

Previously, a video of the intimidation incident circulated widely on social media. The recording states that a retired police officer was the victim of intimidation by a group of thugs in the Kramat Jati Main Market area, East Jakarta.

The intimidation allegedly occurred because the perpetrators did not accept the efforts to organize traders carried out by victims in the market area.
