JAKARTA APL Logistics officially launched a modern distribution center titled Marunda Flow Center in the Nusantara Bonded Zone Industrial area (KBN) Marunda, North Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. This facility is claimed to be the first flow center in Jakarta to have LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, marking the company's commitment to supporting sustainable logistics and national supply chain efficiency.
The President of APL Logistics, happened to be Bedard, explaining that the presence of the Marunda Flow Center is part of the global strategy China +1 which aims to diversify the supply chain by diverting some production from China to other countries, including Indonesia.
"Marunda's facilities are strategically positioned to support this anticipated growth and increased trade activity in Indonesia," he said at a press conference, Wednesday, May 14.
With an area of 32,000 square meters, the Marunda Flow Center is less than 10 kilometers from Tanjung Priok Port and has easy access to Soekarno Hatta Airport and Kampung Bandan Station. This location is considered ideal to improve connectivity and flexibility in the distribution of domestic and foreign goods.
This facility is also equipped with advanced technology, such as an entry and exit scanning system to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy of data. In addition, an integrated purchase order (PO) scanner system is used to detect and eliminate potential shipping errors.
"This allows APL Logistics to carry out a responsive and measurable logistics process, while strengthening Indonesia's position as an important player in the global supply chain," added Bedard.
On the same occasion, Director of Country Operations APL Logistics Indonesia, Dileepa Dissanayake, revealed that his party was conducting a feasibility study related to the construction of container transport routes using a barge from Marunda to Tanjung Priok.
"This step will reduce the density of land traffic and delivery times, in line with the sustainability principle that is the basis for this facility," he said.
In terms of sustainability, the Marunda Flow Center is built with local materials and is equipped with solar panels, transparent roofs for natural lighting, as well as an automated HVAC system for energy efficiency and work environment comfort.
President Director of PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN), Agus Hendardi, appreciated the launch of this facility which was considered capable of strengthening the national logistics ecosystem.
