DENPASAR - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights Bali has examined a Russian foreigner named Elena.
This foreigner is known to have uploaded a post on his Instagram account @lena_butuzov_a claiming to have successfully entered Indonesia without having to undergo quarantine for five days. This video is viral on social media.
Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Bali, Jamaruli Manihuruk, said that the foreigner misunderstood the question of quarantine.
"It seems there is a language error because when he spoke with the person concerned she didn't mean it like that. But because the translator was wrong, it ended up confusing according to the person concerned", said Jamaruli, Friday, April 30.
But in the future, his party is waiting for the follow-up from the COVID-19 Task Force and Civil Service Police Unit in Bali regarding the examination of the foreign national.
"There is a misunderstanding and a translation. However, because this is the domain of the Civil Service Police Unit and the COVID-19 task force, let them check on the matter", he said.
"But until now, for the immigration concerned there is no problem and there is no immigration violation like that", said Jamaruli.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Sub Division of Public Relations, Bureaucratic Reform and Information Technology of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Bali, I Putu Surya Dharma, confirmed that the Russian foreigner is in Bali.
However, there has been no information on the date of arrival of the Russian foreigner in Bali. Surya Dharma only emphasized that the foreigner fulfilled the quarantine procedure but had a wrong perception because she had mistranslated the quarantine process
"The foreigner who said she was not quarantined turned out to have the wrong perception that the quarantine was placed in a small room and could not get out", he said.
"She actually has fulfilled the procedure and there is a letter. There are already papers and a statement from Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital. The certificate is she quarantined", he said.
The Russian foreigner admitted that she had mistranslated on social media from Russian into Indonesian.
"The person concerned (admitted) that there was an error translating on social media from Russian into Indonesian. In that sense, what is meant by quarantine is confinement in a narrow place and her activities are limited. Meanwhile, quarantine at Wisma Athlete is different, not as imagined by her", said Surya.
In his post, this Russian foreigner marked his location at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. In the caption, this Russian foreigner said the COVID-19 pandemic was the best time to travel.
"Fly around the world during the pandemic and fear nothing. COVID-19 pandemic is the best time to travel to avoid a 5 day quarantine", she wrote.
In addition, she also claimed to have escaped the five-day quarantine and also admitted that her husband used someone else's COVID-19 test results.
"Oh yes, I managed to avoid the 5-day quarantine. My husband was given the results of a COVID test from a completely different person", she wrote. However, the Caucasian Instagram account is currently locked.
