The Attorney General's Office Examines Tom Lembong's Wife Regarding Case Obstacles

The Attorney General's Office examined Tom Lembong's wife, Maria Franciska Wihardja, as a witness in the investigation into the alleged obstruction to the handling of tin corruption cases, corruption in the import of sugar and crude palm oil (CPO).

"The team of investigating prosecutors at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) examined MFW (Maria Franciska Wihardja) as the wife of the suspect TTL (Thomas Trikasih Lembong)," said Head of the Attorney General's Office for Legal Information, Harli Siregar, in a statement reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 9.

Tom Lembong as Minister of Trade for the 2015'2016 period is a defendant in the alleged corruption case of sugar importation at the Ministry of Trade in 2015'2016.

Apart from Maria Franciska Wihardja, investigators also examined one other witness, namely CA as the wife of suspect JS (Junaedi Saabih).

Harli said the two witnesses were examined for suspect JS in this case.

"The examination of this witness is to strengthen the evidence and complete the filing in the case," he said.

The AGO has named four suspects in the case of alleged obstruction to the handling of this case, namely MS (Marcella Santoso) as advocate, JS (Junaedi Saibih) as lecturer and advocate, TB (Tian Bahtiar) as Director of JAKTV News, and MAM (M Adhiya Muzakki) as chairman of the Cyber Army team.

The four suspects allegedly obstructed the handling process of three cases at the AGO, namely corruption in the provision of CPO export facilities and their derivatives, corruption in tin commodity trading in the PT Timah Tbk IUP area, and corruption cases in the sugar importation activity on behalf of Tom Lembong.

Suspects MS and JS as advocates are collaborating with suspects TB and MAM to create and spread negative news and content on social media.

Director of Investigation at the Attorney General's Office of Jampidsus Abdull Qohar said that the obstruction effort was carried out to form a negative opinion for investigators and the AGO leadership to the public and influence the evidence of the case at trial so that the case fails or is not proven.
