Bahlil Lahadalia Encourages Routine Discussion On MPO Of The Golkar Party: "Look For Solutions For The Nation"

JAKARTA The General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP, Bahlil Lahadalia, positively welcomed the implementation of a discussion on the theme of the Policy Direction of Geostrategics and Geopoliticals of Indonesia which was held in Hall 1 of the Golkar Party DPP Office, Slipi, West Jakarta, on Thursday, May 8, 2025. The discussion, which was held by the Golkar Party's Opinion Excavation Media (MPO), was attended by national strategic figures and initiated as a monthly routine forum to dissect challenges and formulate solutions for Indonesia's future.

"We will carry out this discussion regularly every month and I hope to provide a solution to a number of problems in this nation," said Bahlil.

In the discussion, he was present as the first speaker for the Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs as well as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Golkar Party, Lodewijk F. Paulus. He emphasized that Indonesia is currently facing various threats, especially those that are hybrid and in the form of a proxy war.

Our politics is active free, and we continue to play an active role in maintaining world peace. But, we also have to be aware of the fast-growing geopolitical dynamics," Lodewijk said.

He also emphasized that Indonesia is currently an archipelagic country and has not yet fully become a maritime country in practice. According to him, the national strategy must be built based on a strong vision and mission, by prioritizing strategic advantages as an archipelagic country.

"Indonesia's geopolitical position rests on a strategic position as an archipelagic country, which is our main strength. While geostrategically, we must be able to balance relations with great powers without losing strategic profits," he explained.

On the same occasion, the second speaker, Professor Burhanudin Muhtadi from UIN Jakarta, highlighted the importance of political stability and economic strategies in an increasingly multipolar global context.

There are two important things for Indonesia. First, political stability is very crucial. If we fail to maintain stability, we will lose the momentum of domestic economic growth," said Burhanudin.

He also added that the low penetration of the international economy against the Indonesian economy has actually become a strength in the current global crisis situation. With export contributions of only about 24.8 percent, the Indonesian economy is more resistant to external shocks.

"In this condition, domestic consumption is the main safety valve. So it is important for Indonesia to implement a balanced global constellation approach to be friends to all parties, but still maintain national interests," he said.

This discussion also touched on the international recognition of Indonesia's leadership. It was stated that President Prabowo Subianto received an approval rate of 81 percent, the highest among leaders of G20 countries, as released in the SEA Today News survey.

The Golkar Party stated that it would continue to facilitate strategic discussion spaces like this as a real contribution in overseeing the direction of Indonesia's foreign policy and national defense.
