JAKARTA The Golkar Party stated that it is ready to discuss the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU) if the government officially submits the script to the DPR.
This statement was conveyed by the Secretary General of the Golkar Party DPP, Muhammad Sarmuji, responding to the discourse on accelerating the discussion of the bill.
"If later the government sends the bill script, of course we are ready to discuss it. But until now it doesn't exist. So we can't make assumptions yet," said Sarmuji when met by media crews in the Gatot Subroto area, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 7 evening.
He emphasized that the process of discussing the bill would follow the applicable mechanism in the DPR. According to him, the procedural law has clearly regulated the procedures for submitting and discussing bills.
However, if the government assesses that there is an urgency in the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill, Golkar does not mind immediately discussing it.
"The narrative is that there are rules already. But if the government views this as urgent, of course we are ready," he said.
Regarding the possibility of entering this bill into the priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas), Sarmuji said it must go through an agreement between the DPR and the government.
"For that we have to meet with the government first to change Prolegnas," he explained.
He emphasized that Golkar had no problem if the National Legislation Program had to be adjusted to speed up the discussion of the bill.
"There is no problem. We just follow the flow. If the government proposes, we are ready," he concluded.
