Pramono Affirms Not Seeing Political Choices To Inaugurate Candidates For Mayors

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung claims that he will not appoint candidates for mayor and regent who will be sworn in based on the political choices of each candidate.

According to Pramono, the criteria for the officials he will appoint as mayors and administrative regents in Jakarta can be seen from the ability to work in helping Pramono lead every city in Jakarta.

"Individual deepening is not the person who politically chooses what. No. But we want people who help or become the City Hall team, a team that works solidly for the next five years," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, May 5.

The former Cabinet Secretary emphasized that he would appoint mayors and regents, including heads of agencies and bureau heads, professionally, considering that the position was filled by the state civil apparatus (ASN).

In addition, Pramono ensured that the DKI Provincial Government would consult with the Jakarta DPRD as a function of the legislature in representing the people of Jakarta, as well as recommendations from the State Civil Service Agency and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"In choosing it, of course, involves a colorful institution inside and outside the City Hall as well as the Bureau of Religion, then the Ministry of Home Affairs, and of course also the DPRD. Almost everything we choose, we will determine, hopefully there will be no personal problems," he explained.

Furthermore, Pramono targets the positions of mayor and administrative regent in Jakarta to be filled by definitive officials in the next two weeks. Thus, this position is no longer held by the acting (plt).

"Hopefully within this week or two, I can determine," said Pramono.

On Friday, May 2, the DKI Jakarta DPRD conducted a fit and proper test for a number of candidates for mayor and regent.

Among them are M. Fadjar Churmiawan as Regent of the Thousand Islands, Hendra Hidayat as Mayor of North Jakarta, Munjirin as Mayor of East Jakarta, and M. Anwar as Mayor of South Jakarta.

The DPRD also conducted a fit and proper test on Agustinus to become Secretary of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Khoirudin, said that the fit and proper test for prospective DKI Provincial Government officials was carried out by the DPRD as a track record screening stage including individual competencies.

"We check their track record. Then their side when they become mayors what they will do. What are the regional problems that will be led, what are the problems. After they explain the characteristics of the problem, then what will they do. We have recorded that," explained Khoirudin.

After that, the DPRD submitted the fit and proper test results to Pramono to determine the feasibility of the officials appointed as mayors and regents.

"Indeed, every mayor who will be sworn in must first obtain the approval of the council and we will do a fit and proper test," he concluded.
