Clouded Leopard Stray Into The Bathroom Of Residents In West Sumatra, Initially Thought Of A Sumatran Tiger

PADANG - The Team of the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of West Sumatra evacuated endangered and protected species of clouded leopards (neofelis diardi) from residents' houses, Rimbo Batu Jorong Koto Padang, Nagari Anam Koto Utara, Kinali Pasaman Barat District.

"It is true that we evacuated the tiger from the house of a resident named Unan (34), a resident of Rimbo Batu Jorong Koto Padang, Kinali on Wednesday, April 28 yesterday," said the Forest Ecosystem Controller of the West Sumatra BKSDA, Ade Putra at Simpang Empat, Thursday, April 29.

When he first entered the house, in a report written by Antara, Unan and his family thought that the animal was a Sumatran tiger. After that, the residents reported it to the Puskeswan Kinali officers who were then forwarded to the Agam Resort BKSDA.

Receiving the report, the BKSDA team immediately went to the location and carried out the evacuation of animals from the bathroom.

"It took three hours for the BKSDA team together with Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, Kinali Police and new residents to herd the protected animals to the prepared cages," he said.

He said the animal was thought to have entered the resident's house after fighting with its species. Then stuck in the bathroom.

The results of field identification, the animal is thought to have come from a protected forest area at the foot of Mount Pasaman, 700 meters from the scene.

The evacuation was witnessed by dozens of residents who wanted to see the rare animal, so officers were forced to disperse residents to expedite evacuation activities. Furthermore, the animal was brought by the BKSDA team to the KSDA Agam Resort office in Lubuk Basung for observation.
