Attacked By Crocodiles When Wudhu In The River, Men In Central Kalimantan Injured Dozens Of Prisoners In Hand

JAKARTA - About to take ablution water to perform the Isha prayer, a man from East Kotawaringin Regency (Kotim), Central Kalimantang (Central Kalimantan) was attacked by a crocodile.

"It happened around the time of the Isha prayer, the victim survived, but suffered injuries to his right hand and was taken to the nearest puskesmas for medical treatment," said the Head of the North Mentaya Hilir Sub-district, East Kotawaringin, Muslih when contacted, Sunday, May 4, confiscated by Antara.

Muslih conveyed that the unfortunate incident happened to one of his residents named Samsul Anwar, 46, in Central Bagendang Village or local residents calling him Ramban Village.

The crocodile attack occurred when the victim was ablution under the bridge or an eye that was in the Sampit river basin (DAS) and witnessed by the victim's wife.

The victim was dragged into the river, seeing this, the victim's wife immediately tried to attract the victim while asking for help from local residents.

Residents who heard the screams for help immediately helped until the victim was rescued despite injuries to his right arm. The victim was immediately taken to the local health center for treatment.

The victim received approximately 15 stitches from a crocodile attack and the victim has now been brought back to his residence.

"According to the victim's wife who saw it, the crocodile size was quite large, about four meters, at that time the victim's wife helped when the victim fought against the crocodile's drag. That's the information we got," he added.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Resort Sampit Muriansyah admitted that he received reports related to crocodile attacks in Ramban Village from the local village head.

"Yes, that's right, we have received a report from the Head of Ramban Village regarding the crocodile attack on one of the residents. Our plan is to go to the location of the attack as soon as possible," he said.

Based on data from the Sampit Resort BKSDA, the case of a crocodile attack this time is the fourth case since January 2025 in the Kotim area, as well as the second time in Ramban Village, the waters of the Sampit River for the last five years.

In May 2022, a crocodile attack also occurred in Ramban Village. The victim was a woman named Siti Mahwiyah who was 42 years old at the time of the incident.

Just like the victim above, Siti suffered a crocodile attack while ablution in the river. Siti managed to survive, but suffered severe injuries to her thighs and legs.
