An Earthquake With A Magnitude Of 4.8 Causes 3 Houses In Tanah Datar To Be Lightly Damaged

The 4.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the Padang Panjang area, West Sumatra caused several houses in Nagari Andaleh, Batipuh District, Tanah Datar Regency to be lightly damaged.

Secretary to Wali Nagari (village) Andaleh Yossi Frangkosingga said the three houses were in Jorong Kotogangangan.

The house is inhabited by residents named Buyung, Miswati, and one other resident's house.

"Of the three houses, Buyung's house is considered quite severe, the walls are broken so it can be seen from outside," said Yossi Frangkosingga as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 2.

Even though they experienced a crack, he said the three houses were still livable. However, to ensure that further examination of the damage is needed by related technical parties.

"The severity is that we don't know it until the relevant agencies are examining it," he said.

According to Yossi, the earthquake shocks in Nagari Andaleh and its surroundings felt quite strong. The nagari (village) government also continues to urge the public to remain vigilant.

"Since Mount Marapi began to erupt, we have often conveyed appeals. Because usually mountain eruptions are accompanied by earthquakes. So we always remind our residents to always be careful and vigilant," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Tanah Datar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Zul Doni Putra said that until now there have been no reports of casualties or injuries due to the earthquake.

However, his party is still monitoring and giving appeals to the public to remain careful in the event of a disaster, both earthquakes and other natural disasters.

"We urge the public in the event of an earthquake not to panic and immediately save themselves in a safe place, or to take shelter in a harsh place to avoid the rubble of the building," he said.
