JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that he did not want to follow the steps of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi to send problematic students to the military barracks for guidance. The DKI Provincial Government, according to him, has special treatment for problematic students.

"Jakarta has its own policy," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, May 2.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi plans to "beaten up" problematic students to be educated in military barracks starting May 2, 2025. The man who is familiarly called Kang Demul said the plan was part of the student's character education which will last for six months.

The plan will begin to be carried out in several areas in West Java which are considered vulnerable first, in collaboration with the TNI and Polri. Especially for children who are often involved in juvenile delinquency such as brawls or motorcycle gangs.

Dedi Mulyadi said that each student will take part in the program in about 30 to 40 special barracks that have been prepared by the TNI. This program will be carried out with priority for students who are difficult to develop or indicated to be involved in promiscuity or criminal acts.

The program planned by the Governor of West Java in general includes character coaching for students who have negative behavior attitudes including ethical, knowledge, agriculture and discipline education.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the PKS Faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD M. Taufik Zoelkifli asked Pramono to follow Dedi Mulyadi's steps in dealing with the naughty and problematic student.

"I totally agree and very supportive if naughty students are given training which is indeed channeling their physical energy in a positive direction," Taufik told reporters.

According to Taifuk, these young students still have a lot of energy to distribute. It's better if the problematic students are trained to fill semi-military activities that are positive.

"Well, one of them, if you take part in military training, maybe not the full military, yes, but the semi-military. If the military is full, of course, he must have a career later to ABRI and so on. Yes, Jakarta is good," said Taufik.
