Prabowo Promises To Remove Outsourcing, DPR: This Is A Real Gift For Workers

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal welcomed President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to strengthen the workforce in commemoration of International Labor Day (May Day) 2025. According to Cucun, this commitment brings fresh air to the world of workers in Indonesia.

"Apresiasi atas kehadiran Presiden Prabowo Subianto di peringatan Hari Buruh Internasional 2025, termasuk komitmen-komitmen dia bagi para pekerja untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan pekerja hingga menciptakan hubungan industri yang lebih adil dan berkelanjutan," ujar Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, Kamis, 1 Mei.

As is known, President Prabowo promised that the Government would accommodate a number of workers' demands, including several points in the Revision of the Manpower Law. This was conveyed by Prabowo in his speech while attending the May Day 2025 commemoration at Monas, Thursday, May 1.

According to Cucun, President Prabowo's commitment is in line with the efforts of the DPR considering that the Employment Bill has been included in the priority agenda of the national legislation (Prolegnas) as a follow-up to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the employment cluster in the Job Creation Law.

"The revision of the Manpower Law has entered the priority agenda because of the follow-up to the Constitutional Court's decision on employment," said the legislator from the West Java II electoral district.

In front of workers from 100 unions, Prabowo also revealed an important point that the Government plans to form a National Labor Welfare Council which will consist of workers representatives from all over Indonesia.

This council will be tasked with reviewing fundamental issues faced by workers, including assessing and giving advice on laws that are considered not in favor of workers.

In addition, Prabowo will also seek to eliminate the outsourcing system or power transfer workers which has been the main complaints of the workers. He also promised that the Government and the DPR would immediately complete the discussion of the Household Workers Protection Bill (RUU PPRT) which had been awaited for 20 years.

Prabowo stated that he would form a layoff task force that would supervise and protect workers affected by layoffs (termination of employment). Prabowo said his commitment was a gift from the government for the commemoration of Labor Day 2025.

Prabowo even supports the proposal to make Marsinah labor activists a national hero. He said his commitments were a gift on Labor Day 2025. The DPR welcomed Prabowo's commitment to the workers.

President Prabowo's commitments are a breath of fresh air for the working world. This shows that the Government listens to the aspirations voiced by workers so far, "said Cucun.

"This is also proof that the government under the leadership of President Prabowo really cares about the welfare of workers and continues to strive so that workers' rights can be fulfilled," he continued.

Cucun assessed that all Prabowo's commitments needed to be supported in order to be carried out properly in order to provide justice for workers who were the driving force of the Indonesian economy.

"This is a positive signal that the state is present and seeks to provide social justice for all levels of society, especially workers," explained Cucun.

The leadership of the DPR, the coordinator of the people's welfare sector (Kesra), one of whose duties is related to employment, stated that the welfare of workers is the key to the progress of the nation. Cucun emphasized that the DPR has also continued to fight for the welfare of workers through the functions of the council.

"Because development will not mean if there are still workers or workers who live in uncertainty, receive wages that are not feasible, or lose their basic rights," said the PKB Deputy.

Cucun stated that the state has the responsibility to be present actively in creating fair and fair work relations in accordance with the constitutional mandate. He also guaranteed that the DPR together with the Government and relevant stakeholders would fight for labor rights in every policy and regulation in the future.

"Both in the legislative, budget, and supervision functions, the DPR continues to fight for the rights of workers and workers. This is the DPR's commitment to ensure fellow workers get welfare," said Cucun.

On the moment of International Labor Day 2025, Cucun also gave his highest appreciation to all Indonesian workers who have become the main foundation of economic and social development in the country.

Cucun also emphasized the importance of the state ensuring that all workers receive protection and their rights are fulfilled. This includes workers in the informal sector, which amounts to almost 58 percent of the total workers in Indonesia.

"Workers' welfare does not only belong to factory workers or office workers, but also belongs to online motorcycle taxi drivers or motorcycle taxi drivers, street vendors, household assistants, farming workers, construction workers, rickshaw pullers, artists, freelancers/freelancers, and all Indonesian people who depend on their daily hard work," said Cucun.

"All Indonesian workers must get fair rights, and the state must provide real support so that they can bring home sustenance for their families at home without a burden," he concluded.
