The Pasaman Basarnas Team Finds Pieces Of Victim's Body Attacked By Crocodiles

The joint team from the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) of Pos Pasaman, West Sumatra while evacuating pieces of the victim's body which were allegedly attacked by a crocodile in West Pasaman Regency, Thursday (1/5/2025).

SIMPANG FOUR - A joint team from Basarnas Pos Pasaman, West Sumatra found pieces of the victim Sukriadi (56) who was allegedly attacked by a crocodile while looking for fish in the Batang Rosak area, Jorong Sikabau, Nagari Ranah Koto Tinggi, Koto Balingka District, West Pasaman Regency.

"On the fifth day of the search since the search for victims started on Sunday (27/4), today at around 16.00 WIB we found pieces of the victim's body," said Basarnas Search and Rescue Post Coordinator Pos Pasaman Novi Yurandi at Simpang Empat, Thursday.

He said the body parts found were the right leg which was found in the upstream direction of the river about 2.3 kilometers from the initial location where the victim was attacked by a crocodile.

"This body cut after being examined at the Ujung Gading Health Center turned out to be in accordance with the victim's right leg," he said.

His party immediately handed over the pieces of the body to the victim's family for immediate burial.

"For the search to continue to this day. However, later we will re-evaluate it with the team and family," he said.

According to him, according to standard operating procedures (SOP) the search for victims attacked by crocodiles can last for seven days.

"According to the SOP, the search can be carried out for seven days. Today is entering its fifth day," he said.

In addition to using rubber boats and thermal drones, the search also involved at least four local fishing boats.

"The search also involves local divers and also follows a series of local wisdom," he said.

The victim is a resident of Muara Simpang, Nagari Koto Sawah, Lembah Melintang District, West Pasaman Regency.

The victim was allegedly attacked by a crocodile on Saturday (26/4/2025) night while looking for fish in the Batang Rosak area, Jorong Sikabau, Nagari Ranah Koto Tinggi, Koto Balingka District.
