ITB Searches Mysterious Phone 0888 Targeting Students-Alumni

JAKARTA - The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) confirmed that there were reports that led to allegations of data leakage and fraudulent activities (scam) via unknown summons to students and alumni.

ITB Director of Communication and Public Relations Dr. Nurlaela Arief said that his party received reports regarding suspicious phone calls from unknown numbers, especially with the beginning 0888*, which occurred on Saturday (27/4) and also circulated through various social media platforms, including X.

"We received reports from a number of students and alumni. ITB confirms that the call is part of the fraud (scam) mode," said Nurlaela as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 30.

ITB, he said, deeply regrets this incident and said that the campus is currently coordinating intensively with related parties to conduct searches.

"And also the handling of the alleged data leak and fraudulent activity," he said.

As a preventive measure, ITB urges all students and alumni to remain calm and not panic if they receive suspicious calls.

Then ignore and do not respond to any requests from unknown callers.
