Bandung Police, West Java, dismantled a new mode in the circulation of methamphetamine-type narcotics disguised in leather beans.
Head of the Bandung Police Narcotics Unit, Kompol Agus Susanto, said that this mode was revealed after a dealer with the initials RK was arrested at his residence in Perum Gading Tutuka 1, Cingcin Village, Soreang District, Bandung Regency on Thursday (14/4).
"Indeed, this case is the result of our investigation, because there is still drug trafficking in the jurisdiction of the Bandung Police," Agus said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 29.
According to Agus, the perpetrator used a fairly new mode of selling methamphetamine, namely by hiding it in leather beans.
He explained that the methamphetamine obtained from Jakarta was packaged in a small package, then put in a peanut peel which had previously been vacated.
The peanut peels are then glued back and marked in the form of two black dots before being mixed with other nuts in plastic packaging.
"This is a new mode of spreading methamphetamine in Bandung Regency," he said.
From the results of the interim examination, the perpetrator admitted to carrying out the action alone with the idea of hiding methamphetamine in leather beans to trick the police and the surrounding community.
"He got the goods from Jakarta, he himself communicated with the buyer and gave it directly," said Agus.
Agus said the suspect admitted that he would distribute the methamphetamine in a number of areas of Bandung Regency, including Soreang and Banjaran Districts.
During the arrest, the police also secured evidence in the form of a black bag containing large methamphetamine packages, eleven packages of crystal methamphetamine in clear plastic clips, and seven packages of methamphetamine that had been put into a peanut peel marked with two black spots.
"Currently, the police are still carrying out further developments to ensure the network involved," he said.
For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) and Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
