PURBALINGGA - Purbalingga Resort Police (Polres) has named three members of the community organization (ormas) as suspects in the case of extortion of drink sellers in Kandang Menjangan Village, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java.
Purbalingga Police Chief AKBPAchmad Akbar said the case was revealed after a video circulated on social media about a number of people intimidating and extorting money from a beverage shop.
"There is a form of behavior that intimidates sellers and takes goods that are part of the shop's sales," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 29.
The Purbalingga Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately followed up on the incident by conducting an investigation until it succeeded in identifying and securing the perpetrators for examination purposes.
From the results of the investigation, said AKBPAchmad Akbar, in this case there were two cases, namely the first case related to intimidation by a number of people.
The second case, he continued, was related to the sale of alcoholic beverages without a permit.
Regarding the act of intimidation by five people, according to a video circulating on social media, the Police Chief said that as of Tuesday (29/4) the investigators had conducted a series of investigations on five people who were seen in the viral video.
Of the five people who appear in the video, three of them have been named suspects in the crime of extortion as well as threats.
"Against the three starting today, detention measures have also been taken," he said
AKBP Achmad Akbar said the three suspects had the initials ATA (44), a resident of Kemangkon District; DS (33), a resident of Kutasari District; and EP (41) a resident of Bukateja District. The three are residents of Purbalingga Regency.
In this case, he said, the suspects were subject to multiple articles, namely Article 368 and/or Article 335 and/or Article 369 and/or Article 55 of the Criminal Code with a maximum prison sentence of 9 years.
According to him, his party has also confiscated several items related to the incident, including collecting other evidence.
Regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages without a permit, his party will deepen the store that is the object of the problem.
"This is a form of violation of the provisions contained in the Regional Regulation of Purbalingga Regency Number 8 of 2018. The store does not have a business license for the alcoholic beverage trade," he said.
