The Batam District Court held a trial for the alleged procurement of drug evidence involving Kompol Satria Nanda and nine members of the former Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police in a marathon, from three times a week to every day.

Batam Vabiannes District Court spokesman Stuart Wattimena confirmed the trial was "speeded" to speed up the settlement of the case.

"Yes, the panel will have a marathon (trial)," Wattimena said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 29.

Previously, the trial of the case involving 10 former members of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police was held twice a week, namely Monday and Thursday. Then, in the second week of April, the trial was added to three times a week, Monday, Thursday and Friday.

This week, the panel of judges hearing the case scheduled a daily trial to complete the examination of witnesses from both the prosecutor and the defendant.

After the follow-up hearing was held Monday (28/4), the panel of judges rescheduled the trial on Tuesday (29/4) at 20.00 WIB tonight.

"Today's trial is also there, we will see the progress of the trial," said Wattimena.

According to him, this acceleration step was taken by the panel of judges because they considered the settlement of the case before the end of the detention period of the defendants.

"If you still need time, it means it will be accelerated considering the detention period of the defendants," said Wattimena.

Separately, the Head of the Batam District Attorney's Office, Priandi Firdaus, said that the trial of the case was entering trial with the agenda of examining the crown witness.

"The trial is currently examining the crown witness, namely the defendants testifying to each other for the other defendants," said Andi as he is familiarly called.

Similarly, the team of public prosecutors (JPU) of the Batam Kejari Ali Naek said that of the 12 defendants who had been examined as witnesses at the trial as many as six people, now there are six more defendants waiting for trial.

The six defendants, namely Kompol Satria Nanda, Aziz Martua Siregar (ex-members of Brimob, drug dealer), Sigit Sarwo Edhi, Alex Chandra, Fadillah, and Ibry Ma'ruf Rambe, each former member of Subnit I Satresnarkoba Polresta Barelang.

"Those who have not been examined as witnesses are Jaka Surya, Junaidi, Wan Rahmat, Arianto, Rahmadi and Zulkifli," said Ali.

This case still leaves the examination of witnesses from the defendant who have not been scheduled, because they are still examining witnesses from the prosecutor's side. In total there were more than 15 witnesses and four experts presented at the trial of the case.

In this case, the former Kasatresnarkoba Polresta Barelang Kompol Satria Nanda along with nine members from Subnit I were named as suspects in the procurement of 1 kg of methamphetamine evidence to be resold to pay informants.

The one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine came from the disclosure of a drug case weighing 35 kg from Malaysia which was revealed by the Subnit I of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police in June 2024. Currently, of the 10 former members of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police, nine people have been dishonorably dismissed (PTDH) by the National Police and Kompol Satria Nanda is still in the process of appealing to the PTDH decision.
