JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian revealed that although many community organizations (ormas) make a positive contribution, there are still mass organizations that abuse freedom to commit acts of intimidation and violate the law.
Tito explained that mass organizations are part of democracy, as is the freedom to express opinions and freedom of the press.
"The purpose of mass organizations is to accommodate civil rights, such as freedom of association and assembly," Tito said when met in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, April 25.
The Minister of Home Affairs provides examples of mass organizations that have played an active role in the fields of social, environmental, and food security, such as TP PKK which also provides many benefits for the community.

"This must be dealt with firmly and punished," he said.

Tito emphasized the importance of law enforcement, both for individuals and organizations involved.
