In addition to ensuring assistance to affected Indonesian citizens, Judha said the Indonesian Representatives in Uncle Sam's country also communicated, disseminating their rights in accordance with applicable laws in the United States through various platforms.

"When Indonesian citizens are detained by the United States immigration authorities (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement), they have rights according to US law, including the right to contact representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, have the right to access consularity from representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, have the right to get lawyers, have the right not to provide information without the assistance of lawyers," Judha explained to reporters.

Judha further said that the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with the Indonesian American Lawyers Association to disseminate information on these rights more widely to Indonesian citizens.

"Even though our citizens are undocumented, they still have rights," said Judha.

Currently, of the 20 Indonesian citizens affected by President Trump's immigration policy, five of them have been deported. In addition, six of the 20 Indonesian citizens affected are students.

Judha explained, his party ensures that consular access to affected Indonesian citizens ensures they receive good treatment and get their rights.

"We provide legal assistance, Indonesian citizens have been accompanied by lawyers, we also communicate and coordinate with the Indonesian community there, including dissemination, their rights," explained Judha.

"Indonesia through representatives in the United States also communicates and coordinates with local authorities. We convey that the concern regarding the actions taken by the immigration apparatus against the detention of Indonesian citizens does not go through due processes. Some of whose visas are still valid is revoked without notification," he continued.

Judha emphasized that the Indonesian government respects the sovereignty of the US Government in enforcing its immigration law.
