Azis Syamsuddin's Room Ransacked By The KPK, PSI: DPR Is Getting Less Dignified, Its Image Is More Ambiguous

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the room of Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Azis Syamsuddin at Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex, Wednesday afternoon, April 28. This search was related to Azis' involvement in the alleged bribery of Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial and KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju.

Responding to this, the Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI) Party considered that the case really hurt the hearts of the people. This is because a House of Representatives leader facilitates a meeting of parties suspected of engaging in an illegal conspiracy.

"The House of Representatives has become less authoritative, its image has become increasingly fragile, it has become a hotbed of political brokers", said PSI spokesman Faldo Maldini in a written statement, Thursday, April 29.

According to Faldo, the former chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives must know the taboos that the KPK cannot do. Where has internal regulations that prohibit investigators and employees from meeting the parties to be examined? In fact, this is common among law enforcers.

“The old House of Representatives members in Commission III, like Mr. Azis, are like a double-edged sword. He knows the laws of everything, but on the other hand, he also understands his tactics. So, just choose which one", said Maldini.

Faldo said the Honorary Court of the House has a strategic role to save the image of the House of Representatives. It is dangerous if people trust in the because of Azis Syamsuddin case.

"This is a momentum for Honorary Council to restore public confidence", said Maldini.

Previously, KPK investigators came to the House of Representatives building, Wednesday evening, April 28. Allegedly, the arrival of investigators to search the office of Deputy Chairman Azis Syamsuddin.

It was confirmed, the Deputy Chairman of Honorary Council of the House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, confirmed that the KPK investigator's visit was related to Azis Syamsuddin.

"Yes, that's right. Earlier from the KPK, we checked Mr. Azis' room according to the main duties and functions of our Honorary Council", said Habiburokhman, Wednesday, April 28.
