Cardinal Suharyo Says Vatican Embassy Will Accept Guests Who Want To Write Impressions About Pope Francis

JAKARTA - Archbishop of Jakarta Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo said the Vatican Embassy would open the door for guests who wish to write an impression about Pope Francis.

This was conveyed in a press conference related to Pope Francis who died today. This activity is said to be held on Tuesday, April 22 to next Thursday.

"What is certain is that the Vatican Ambassador is in Jakarta, he will open his embassy so that guests who wish to express their condolences can write down their impressions in the guest book," said Cardinal Suharyo at a press conference held at the Graha Pemuda Cathedral Jakarta, Monday, April 21.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Cathedral Church will carry out a special service. However, Cardinal Suharyo welcomes every neighborhood in the Jakarta Archdiocese area to carry out the mass of the spirit.

Masses of spirits or also known as mass requiems are usually held to commemorate and pray for believers who have died.

"Thursday afternoon there is a special ceremony at the Cathedral Church," he said.

"Others, of course, we just heard the news that (Pope Francis died, ed). Later there will definitely be other initiatives that will develop regarding that," continued Cardinal Suharyo.

As previously reported, Pope Francis, who was the first leader of the Roman Catholic Church from Latin America, died at the age of 88. He recently left the hospital after undergoing treatment due to a serious double pneumonia attack.

The Pope was treated at Gemelli Hospital, Rome, Italy on February 13 and allowed to return home on March 23.

"Dear brothers and sisters, with deep sadness I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis," Cardinal Kevin Farrell announced on the Vatican TV channel.

"At 7.35 this morning the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to Father's house," the announcement continued.
