Inaugurated By Jokowi, Minister Bahlil Became Luhut Pandjaitan's Subordinate Under The Coordinating Ministry For Marves

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) will certainly not change its name even though President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has now formed the Investment Ministry led by Bahlil Lahadalia.

Spokesperson for the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Jodi Mahardi said, currently there is no plan for the ministry, which is led by Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, to change its name.

"The plan (name of the Coordinating Ministry for Marves, red) will remain the same," Jodi told reporters, Wednesday, April 28.

He also explained that later the Ministry of Investment would be under the Coordinating Ministry for Marves, not under the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy or the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy.

"The Ministry of Investment will be one of the ministries coordinated by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment," he said.

So, now the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs is in charge of seven ministries, namely the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of PUPR, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and the Ministry of Investment.

As previously reported, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has reformed or reshuffled the ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. For the new nomenclature, namely the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) is filled with Nadiem Makarim, and the Minister of Investment is held by Bahlil Lahadalia.

President Jokowi also appointed Laksana Tri Handoko as Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) replacing Bambang Brodjonegoro.
