Garut Resort Police (Polres) has prepared a team of psychologists to examine the mental condition of an obstetrician who molested his patient in Garut Regency, West Java.

"The perpetrator must have been examined mentally," said Head of the Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Joko Prihatin in Garut, Friday, April 18, as reported by Antara.

He said that the Garut Police had conducted a series of examinations of the suspect with the initials MSF (33) as well as a number of witnesses and victims in cases of sexual crimes against female patients in Garut.

One of them, he said, was examining his mental condition as part of the interests of the investigation process which is currently being carried out by the police.

"This is part of a police investigation," he said.

He conveyed that the Garut Police investigator team is currently continuing to investigate cases of sexual crimes committed by the obstetrician.

Investigators, he said, indicated that there were many victims in the doctor's sexual crime case, but the victims had not dared to report it to the police.

He revealed the allegation of many victims because so far on social media many commented claiming to be victims of the doctor's actions, but did not report it to the police.

"We urge people who feel they are victims to report," he said.

He emphasized that reports of women who are victims of sexual crimes by the police will ensure the safety and confidentiality of their identities.

The report from the victim, he said, would help investigators to thoroughly uncover various crimes and modes as evidence of formal requirements in the investigation process, and could maximize the threat of punishment for the perpetrators.

"We have opened a complaint service that can be accessed, and guarantees the privacy or confidentiality of the victim's identity," said Joko.

The Garut Police previously conducted an investigation regarding the distribution of CCTV footage showing allegations of sexual harassment by doctors against patients at a clinic in Garut City.

Garut Police then secured the doctor in the video, then an examination was carried out, and it was found that there had been an incident and other victims until they were finally named suspects.

Until now, the Garut Police have only received a report from a victim whose sexual crime incident is not like the one on CCTV, but another case or elsewhere in the rented house of the perpetrator with a female victim aged 24.
