Banten Allocates IDR 5 Billion To Repair The Sarakan Dam To Overcome Floods

TANGERANG - The Tangerang City Government expressed its appreciation to the Banten Provincial Government for allocating a budget of IDR 5 billion for repairing the Sarakan dam as a key point for controlling and overcoming floods in the area.

"We express our appreciation to the Governor of Banten Andra Soni for the attention and support given to flood control efforts in Tangerang City," said Mayor Sahrudin in Tangerang, Antara, Friday, April 18.

The Mayor of Sahrudin said that together with the ranks and representatives of the regional technical implementation unit (UPTD) of the Cidurian-CisaANNE Watershed Management (DAS) from the Banten Provincial Government, a number of dam points had been inspected.

The visit aims to review the current condition of flood control infrastructure and formulate strategic steps that need to be implemented immediately.

In addition to establishing synergies with the Provincial Government, the Tangerang City Government also took concrete steps through the construction of water reservoirs as part of a medium-term solution. The water reservoirs built in 2025 are located in Paninggilan, Bugel, Vila Japos, the Bintaro Duta complex, and Cipadu.

"The construction of this reservoir is expected to accommodate runoff water and reduce the risk of flooding in the surrounding area," said Sahrudin.

He hopes that the synergy with the Banten Provincial Government and the independent efforts that have been made can provide real changes and maximum protection for the community from repeated flood threats.

"With the cooperation and seriousness of all parties, God willing, we can provide a sustainable solution for the people of Tangerang City and the Greater Tangerang area," he said.
