Responding To Trump's Residual Tariff, Indonesia Will Import Oil And Gas From The United States

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia was summoned by President Prabowo Subianto to the State Palace in Jakarta, Thursday, April 17. President Prabowo discussed plans to add oil and gas imports from the United States.

Bahlil explained related to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which recorded a trade surplus between Indonesia and the United States of around USD 14.5 billion. The Indonesian government wants to balance the trade balance as material for negotiations with the United States government after Donald Trump announced the reciprocal rate.

It is planned that Indonesia will import LPG, crude oil, and fuel from the United States worth USD 10 billion in order to provide balance to the trade balance. As is known, President Donald Trump applied an import rate of 32 percent to Indonesia. The percentage is also different from other countries.

Currently, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono are in the United States after being ordered by President Prabowo Subnianto to negotiate regarding import rates.
