Free Emission Test In Tangerang: Strategic Steps To Overcome Urban Air Pollution

TANGERANG - The Tangerang City Government (Pemkot) held a free emission test for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles at Tangcity Mall, Tangerang City, Thursday, April 17.

The Mayor of Tangerang, Sahrudin, said that the purpose of the activity was to realize clean and healthy air quality in Tangerang City.

"Implementing clean and healthy air quality, so it is not only the responsibility of the local government, but also with all elements of society and the involvement of the private sector," Sahrudin told reporters Thursday, April 16.

Sahrudin emphasized that this emission test is very important. Because for him, the main factor is disease, which is measured by the quality of the air. Therefore, he hopes to reduce air pollution.

"Including this emission test, it is also important that we do this to find out what the combustion resulting from this motorized vehicle, removing air pollution or not," he explained.

Therefore, he also requested that all citizens increase their awareness to support local government programs. If not, strict sanctions will be imposed.

"We convey to all people about the sanctions that will be imposed if the community does not participate in maintaining cleanliness and air quality," he added.

Tangcity Mall Director Sugiyanto Lie, said that his party had committed to realizing better together with the Tangerang City Government, one of which was reforestation using trees to special parking facilities for vehicles that had passed the emission test.

His party will also cooperate with the Environment Agency in the implementation of periodic vehicle emission tests in commercial areas.

"We believe that shopping centers not only function as spaces for economic transactions, but also have an important role in creating healthy, sustainable public spaces, and providing benefits to the wider community," he concluded.
