Prosecutors Are Not Ready, Three Judges Free Ronald Tannur Canceled Listening To Today's Demands

JAKARTA - The trial to read the charges against three inactive judges at the Surabaya District Court regarding the alleged bribery case of Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal has been postponed. This is because the public prosecutor (JPU) has not finished compiling the prosecution file.

The three inactive judges were Erintuah Damanik, Mangapul, and Heru Hanindyo.

"Today's public prosecutors are not ready to read Your Majesty's demands, please take one week, Your Honor," said the prosecutor during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Tuesday, April 15.

Hearing the prosecutor's unpreparedness, the chairman of the panel of judges, Teguh Santoso, confirmed that he would question the time needed to finalize the prosecution file. The prosecutor then asked for a week.

"Can I know why not?" asked the judge.

"Please time to improve Your Majesty, Your Majesty's demands," replied the prosecutor.

Not talking much, Judge Teguh asked that there be no more delays in reading the indictment. Because, the limited detention period of the defendants.

"We emphasize. Ready not to be ready, both demands and pleas," said Judge Teguh.

The three defendants were charged with accepting bribes in the form of gifts or promises of Rp4.67 billion and gratuities in the case of alleged bribery and gratuities for giving acquittal to the convicted murder of Ronald Tannur in 2024.

In addition to bribes, the three were also charged with receiving gratuities in the form of rupiah and various foreign currencies, namely Singapore dollars, Malaysian ringgit, Japanese yen, euro, and Saudi riyals.

The defendant was charged with Article 12 letter c or Article 6 Paragraph (2) or Article 5 Paragraph (2) and Article 12 B in conjunction with Article 18 of Law (UU) Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

The bribes allegedly received by the three judges included Rp1 billion and 308 thousand Singapore dollars or Rp3.67 billion (exchange rate of Rp11,900).
