Unud Chancellor Receives BEM Proposal To Cancel Kodam Cooperation

The Chancellor of Udayana University, Bali received a proposal from the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Udayana University to cancel a cooperation agreement with the Regional Military Command IX/Udayana.

This was conveyed by the Chancellor of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana after holding an open dialogue with the University Student Executive Board at the Udayana University Auditorium Widya Sabha, Jimbaran Campus, Badung Regency, Tuesday, April 8.

"As we have done earlier with the younger students, we leaders of Udayana University listened to the aspirations and inputs so that earlier we agreed to propose to our partner, Udayana Military Command to cancel this cooperation," said Unud Chancellor Ketut Sudarsana as reported by ANTARA.

The proposal is stated in the form of a Joint Agreement between the Chancellor of Udayana University and Udayana BEM and the Chairman of the Student Representative Council (DPM).

He said the proposed cancellation of the cooperation would be submitted to the Udayana Military Command for follow-up.

Sudarsana promised to provide answers to students within a maximum period of seven days after the joint decision was signed.

According to Prof. Sudarsana, the memorandum of understanding between the Udayana Military Command and Udayana University could not immediately be canceled in a short time. However, his party will communicate the aspirations of the students to the Udayana Military Command.

"We will provide further information on the technical aspirations that we listen to as leaders of our children," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of BEM Udayana University I Wayan Arma Surya Darmaputra said he would oversee the commitment of the rectorate to cancel the cooperation.

At least, there are two main points that they demand in a meeting with the Chancellor of Udayana University, namely first, asking the Chancellor of Udayana University to cancel or revoke the campus cooperation agreement with Kodam IX/Udayana and urge Udayana University to voice a note of understanding between the Ministry of Higher Education and the TNI at the center, which has existed since 2023.

"From all the clauses, we feel that Udayana University is used as the executor, not the beneficiary. Therefore, apart from the substance of defending the country, the red carpet for the Kodam and other things is really detrimental to Udayana University," he said.

The chairman of BEM said this agreement would be canceled through a proposal for cancellation from the first party, Udayana University, with a deadline of one time in the next seven days.

"If within seven days a letter of cancellation has not been submitted to the Udayana Military Command, BEM will carry out litigation and non-litigation resistance," he said.

Previously, Udayana University and Kodam IX/Udayana signed a collaboration which included giving public lectures from TNI figures about nationality, non-militaryistic state defense training. Then, the community service program in the field of food security and technology is appropriate and increases the capacity of active soldiers' human resources through access to strata one (S1) program, strata two or master (S2), and doctoral or doctoral programs at Unud.

Meanwhile, the Head of Information for Kodam IX/Udayana (Kapendam) Colonel Infantry Agung Udayana emphasized that the cooperation between his institution and Unud was not a form of militarism or intervention in campus activities, but cooperation in the field of national insight development.

He stated that the PKS was a follow-up to the MoU of the Ministry of Education and Culture with the TNI in 2023 as stated by the Unud Chancellor with a focus on strengthening character, national insight, and participatory educational programs.
