Residents Of Hanaut Village Who Were Attacked By Crocodiles Were Found On The Second Day Of The Search

CENTRAL KALIMANTAN - A resident in Hanaut Village, Pulau Hanaut District, East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan) was missing after being attacked by a crocodile on April 4. The victim was finally found on the second day of the search in the Mentaya Watershed (DAS).

"The victim on the second day of the search was found by the joint SAR team at 14:30 WIB. The victim was found 1.2 kilometers from the scene and immediately evacuated to the victim's family," said Head of the Palangka Raya SAR Office Anak Agung Ketut Alit Supartana in Hanaut Village, quoted from ANTARA on Saturday, April 5.

The SAR elements involved in this search include the Sampit SAR Post Rescue Team, East Kotawaringin Regency Government (Kotim), Central Kalimantan Police Ditpolair, Samuda Navy Post, Hanaut Police, East Kotim BPBD, Hanaut Koramil, Sampit Resort BKSDA, victims' families, and local residents.

Agung said that on Friday, April 4 at around WIB there had been a dangerous condition for humans in Pulau Hanaut District, namely a resident who was attacked by a crocodile in the Mentaya watershed.

The victim was a 35-year-old man named Kurnasi, a resident of Babaung Village who was still in the Pulau Hanaut sub-district.

Based on witness testimony, the unfortunate incident occurred when the victim was bathing in the river. Not long after that the victim was attacked by a crocodile. The witness also saw that the victim's body was in the mouth of the crocodile.

"Residents who saw the incident tried to help the victim, but to no avail. Then residents reported the incident to the local authorities," he said.

After receiving information from the Hanaut Police, Agung immediately dispatched a team from the Sampit SAR Post to search for the victim.

Equipped with Rescue Car, Riggit Buyancy Boat (RBB) Plk, Riggit Inflatable Boat (RIB) 01 Plk, water aid equipment and other supporting equipment, the Joint SAR Team is still working on searching and working with BKSDA for the handling of wild animals.

After a long search effort, the victim was finally found dead about 1.2 kilometers from the scene. The victim's body was found intact which was then evacuated and taken to the funeral home.

"With the discovery of the victim and having been handed over to the family, the SAR operation was declared complete and officially closed. We thank you for the teamwork that carried out the search from yesterday until the victim was found," said Agung.
