Warning For The COVID-19 Task Force To The Provinces: No Tolerance For The Increase In Coronavirus Deaths

JAKARTA - The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 emphasized that it would not tolerate provinces experiencing an increase in the death rate of COVID-19 cases.

Because currently active cases nationally only reached 6.1 percent of the total cases. Thus, it is believed that the bed capacity or bed occupation rate (BOR) of isolation and the ICU is controlled.

"There is no tolerance for an increase in mortality. Considering, especially now that the BOR has not shown an increase and the number of active cases nationally has also decreased", said Wiku Adisasmito, spokesman for the COVID-19 Task Force in the Presidential Secretariat Youtube broadcast, Tuesday, April 27.

Wiku regretted that this week there was an increase in the national scale COVID-19 death rate by 29.2 percent from last week. In the last week, there were 892 deaths, and this week there were 1,159 deaths.

The high mortality rate was contributed by the province of Central Java, which increased by 178 deaths, South Sumatra by 25 deaths, DKI Jakarta by 20 deaths, West Java by 18 deaths, and Aceh by 15 deaths.

Wiku warned the provinces that experienced the highest increase in deaths, especially the Central Java Provincial Government to immediately evaluate the handling of COVID-19 in their regions.

"Immediately improve the handling of positive patients, especially those with moderate and severe symptoms. Increase tracing and testing to identify early transmission and continue to coordinate data between regions and the center so that good data synchronization can be achieved", he explained.

Wiku said that each province should be able to prevent an increase in the death rate after dealing with COVID-19 for more than a year. The percentage of the cure for COVID-19, which currently reaches 91.2 percent, should be a motivation to be able to reduce the percentage of deaths.

"After learning to face the pandemic for one year, the death rate should have been completely prevented. If the hospital experiences difficulties or difficulties in dealing with the COVID-19 case, please immediately contact the Ministry of Health so that it can be assisted", said Wiku.
