Police Predict 7 Million People Intend To Stay Home Even Though The Government Ban

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya said that millions of people have the potential to violate government policies to prohibit homecoming for Eid 2021.

"Based on a survey from the R & D department (ministry) of transportation, there are still around 7 million people who are still going to go home," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Monday, April 26.

Because of this, a number of attempts were made to discourage people from returning to their hometowns. That way, the goal of preventing a spike in the spread of COVID-19 by prohibiting homecoming can be achieved.

"Why did the government then prohibit homecoming, so that at least our country, like India, had a tsunami wave of COVID-19 that could not be restrained," said Sambodo.

"So then the graph of COVID-19 control which has sloped well has increased again with the presence of people carrying out homecoming activities," he continued.

In addition, the police have also prepared a traffic flow blocking scheme. There are at least 31 blocking post points consisting of 17 check points and 14 insulating points.

Apart from the insulation scheme, the police have also learned from the previous year that they used illegal travel a lot. Even hiding in buses to trucks.

"The modus operandi of previous travelers, who rode dark travel, rode motorbikes, rode in an ambulance, hid in the trunk of the bus, hid in the bus toilets, climbed into the back of the truck, we will check everything," said Sambodo.
