Passing Indonesian Citizens From India, Jakarta Metro Police Holds And Intensive Checks 3 People

JAKARTA - Jakarta Metro Police has arrested three people suspected of being involved in the repatriation of an Indonesian citizen from India without going through the quarantine process.

Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metro Police Kombes Yusri Yunus said the perpetrators who assisted the repatriation process had the initials S and RW. Meanwhile, the Indonesian citizen was sent home with the initials JD arrived in Indonesia on Sunday, April 25 at 18.45 WIB.

"Every passenger from India has a little tightening. They have to go through quarantine for 14 days but those concerned without going through quarantine are taken care of by someone with the initials S and RW who can succeed without quarantine and continue to return to their home", said Yusri at the Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters, reported by Antara, Monday, April 26.

Yusri added that it was possible that his party would secure other actors who were allegedly involved. "Are there other actors? We are still investigating this", he said.

Yusri said that the three of them were currently being detained at Jakarta Metro Police to undergo an intensive examination.

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights emphasized that the ban on Indian citizens and travelers from entering Indonesia was due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in that country.

"Visa services for Indian citizens have been stopped since Thursday, April 22 at 12.00 WIB", said the Director-General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Jhoni Ginting in a written statement received in Jakarta.

The termination of visa applications, he said, was by the instructions of the Minister of Justice and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly to anticipate the spread of COVID-19 from India.

"Since yesterday afternoon I have been ordered verbally by the Minister's direction for visa applications from India to be stopped", he said.
