Potentially Dangerous, ODGJ Brings Sajam In Palangka Raya Secured

The joint team from the Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP) together with the Palangka Raya City Satpol PP, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan) arrested a man who was a person with a mental disorder (ODGJ) carrying a sharp weapon on Thursday, March 20 evening.

"We received a report from residents who were worried about the existence of an ODGJ known as Kipli on Jalan Bukit Keminting, Palangka Village, Jekan Raya District. He is considered dangerous for carrying sharp weapons," said the Head of the Call Center 112 Palangka Raya Coordinator, Sucipto, Friday, March 21, confiscated by Antara.

Arriving at the scene, the joint officers then swiftly and carefully secured the ODGJ which in his hands carried sharp weapons of the type of kitchen knife and spoon that had been taped.

By diverting ODGJ's attention through a humanist approach, officers then managed to secure and drop the sharp weapon he was holding.

"This is very dangerous, for that we are very careful in securing this ODGJ. As much as possible do not make him (ODGJ) angry, because it is possible that the sharp weapon he is holding is thrown at the officers or residents," he said.

Sucipto revealed, after successfully securing the ODGJ and keeping the sharp weapon away, then his party tied his hand not to go berserk.

After succeeding, Kipli the ODGJ by the joint team was then evacuated to the Kalawa Atei Hospital for rehabilitation so as not to disturb residents.

"The evacuation of ODGJ this time went smoothly," he said.
