It's Final, Plenary Ratification Of The TNI Bill Will Be Held Tomorrow

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives Dave Akbarshah Fikarno (Dave Laksono) said the discussion of the draft Law on the Indonesian National Army (RUU TNI) was final so that it could be ratified in a plenary meeting held tomorrow, Thursday, March 20. It is known that eight factions in Commission I of the DPR have agreed to amend the TNI Law in the first level of discussion yesterday.

"It was decided in phase I, so the TNI Bill has been completed, it remains only to be brought in stage II, which will be read out in plenary session, which God willing, is scheduled for tomorrow," said Dave at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 19.

However, Dave admitted that his party was still waiting for a meeting of the deliberative body (Bamus) regarding the plenary implementation time tomorrow. Because, he said, the plenary closing of the trial or the recess period will be postponed to Tuesday, March 25, next week.

"But while the invitation I have not received, I am just waiting for Bamus' decision, to decide whether tomorrow and what time, because the recess period has been postponed to next Wednesday, so the plenary closing will only be held next Tuesday," he said.

"However, the current schedule is that the plenary session will be held tomorrow for the second phase of the decision," added the Golkar legislator.

When asked whether active soldiers currently serving outside 14 ministries/agencies would immediately resign after the TNI Bill was passed, Dave handed it over to the government.

"We leave that to the government to follow up, but the attitude of the TNI Headquarters is clear that outside of the 14 ministries must resign or retire," said Dave.

The DPR, added Dave, only supervises that the TNI Law which will be ratified can be implemented as well as possible. "Yes, from the DPR, our function is supervision, monitoring. We are making a budget to make laws and then we oversee the use of the budget and implementation of the law," he said.

"So we leave it to the government to the TNI Headquarters and also the Ministry of Defense to implement the laws that we have made together," concluded Dave.
