JAKARTA - President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine supported a proposal to halt attacks on energy facilities, but later assessed Russian leader Vladimir Putin had effectively rejected a full ceasefire proposal submitted by the United States on Tuesday, urging the world to block any attempt by Moscow to extend its war against Ukraine.

President Putin agreed to temporarily halt attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities, but declined to support a 30-day full ceasefire, which is far from what US President Donald Trump wants as the first step towards a permanent peace deal.

President Zelensky, who has agreed to a ceasefire for 30 days, said after Tuesday's phone call between President Putin and President Trump, he would support the proposed limited ceasefire submitted by President Putin.

"Our side (will) support this," President Zelensky told reporters during a quick online briefing, when asked about the idea of a moratorium on energy attacks.

However, after Moscow launched more than 40 drones into Ukraine's civilian infrastructure hours later, President Zelensky called on the world to stop Putin.

"Today, (President) Putin has de facto rejecting the full ceasefire proposal," President Zelensky said in a post on Telegram.

"It would be appropriate for the world to reject (President) Putin's efforts to extend the war in response," he said.

The White House said the telephone link between President Trump and President Putin was aimed at immediately achieving a broader peace plan and another round of talks in Saudi Arabia will begin soon.

After a call by the leaders of the White House and Kremlin, President Zelensky made a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

"We continue to communicate. I am sure there will be no betrayal from our partners and assistance will continue to be provided," President Zelensky said after a phone call with President Macron and Chancellor Scholz and when asked about President Putin's previous comments, emphasizing the resolution of any conflict would require the termination of all military and intelligence aid to Ukraine.

President Zelensky said President Putin's demands, as well as other demands that wanted to limit Ukraine's campaign to recruit civilians into the armed forces, appeared aimed at weakening Ukraine.
