Fallen Tree In 9 Areas Of Central Jakarta, Beringin Type

A total of 9 points in Central Jakarta were hit by fallen trees on Monday night, March 17, due to strong winds and heavy rains. A total of 13 trees fell in the area.

"Starting from Jalan M. Yamin, Jalan Cikini, Jalan Surabaya, Jalan Dr. Kusumaatmaja, Jalan Kebon Sirih Raya, Jalan Latuharhary, Jalan Taman Lapangan Banteng, Jalan Salemba Raya, and Jalan Inspeksi Ciliwung," said Head of the Central Jakarta City Parks and Forests Sub-dept., Mila Ananda, when confirmed, Tuesday, March 18.

Some trees only suffered branch or branch fractures, while others fell completely. Mila explained that the tree that fell the most was the Beringin type, with varying ages.

"The fallen tree factor was due to the wind too," he explained.

In addition to the Beringin type, broken and fallen trees also consist of types of Karet Kebo, Tabebuya, Buni, Ceri, and Ketapang.

Two Drivers Become Victims

From this incident, two drivers were victims and rushed to the hospital. However, both have been allowed to go home. The hospital stated that if there were further complaints, the victim could return to the hospital for further examination.

Insured Tumbang Tree

Mila Ananda explained that not all fallen trees were insured. Insurance only applies to trees that are assets of the Jakarta Provincial Government, such as those on the left and right sides of the road, on the median of the road, as well as in public parks.

"As a result of the fallen tree covered by insurance, it is a tree planted, an asset of the local government. Like the one on the streets, on the left and right of the road, in the median, then in the park," said Mila Ananda.

Meanwhile, trees that are in private areas or not in public facilities cannot be covered by insurance if they cause losses.

"In private areas, and they never ask for pruning, we can't. The insurance cannot be claimed because it is not insured for private trees," he explained.

Residents Of Tumbang Tree Victims

For Jakarta residents who are victims of fallen trees, they can hold the government accountable for medical expenses if the tree is an asset insured by the Jakarta Provincial Government.
