KPU Ready For PSU For The First Wave Of The 2024 Regional Head Election In 4 Regions

Chairman of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) Mochammad Afifuddin said his party was ready to re-vote (PSU) for the 2024 Pilkada in 4 regions in the first wave. The PSU will begin on March 22, 2025.

"All preparations have been made by the local KPU," Afif told reporters, Tuesday, March 17.

In the first wave, the PSU will be held at 4 polling stations (TPS) in Siak Regency, Riau Islands; 2 polling stations in North Barito, Central Kalimantan; 4 polling stations in West Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands; and 4 polling stations in Magetan, East Java.

Afif said that the KPU had inaugurated the voting organizers group (KPPS). Voting logistics needs have also been provided.

"KPPS ranks and logistics are ready. It's just a matter of implementation in each region," said Afif.

The Constitutional Court ordered PSUs in 24 regions after deciding on the dispute over the results of the 2024 Pilkada. The decision was announced in a plenary session which took place on Monday (24/2), with all Nine Constitutional Justices having completed the reading of the decision on 40 cases being investigated further.

Based on the official website of the Indonesian Constitutional Court, of all these cases, the Constitutional Court granted 26 requests, rejected 9 cases, and did not accept 5 other cases. With the end of this trial, the Constitutional Court was declared to have completed all 310 applications for Dispute in the 2024 Regional Head General Election Results (PHPU Kada).

Of the 26 applications granted, as many as 24 cases resulted in a decision to hold a re-voting. The KPU in the relevant regions is obliged to carry out this decision according to the instructions of the Constitutional Court.
