Foreign Minister Sugiono: Indonesia Will Continue To Play An Active Role In Supporting Two-State Solutions

JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono ensured that Indonesia would continue to push for a two-state solution and affirm support for Palestine.

This was conveyed by Foreign Minister Sugiono when receiving the Special Envoy for the President of Palestine Mahmoud Al-Habbash in Jakarta on Monday.

On this occasion, the two discussed the latest developments in Palestine and the challenges faced, both in the Gaza Strip, West Bank and East Jerusalem including the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that Indonesia would continue to be at the forefront of supporting Palestine, either through diplomacy, humanitarian assistance, or support for the reconstruction process of Gaza.

"Indonesia rejects any efforts that change Palestinian demographics and will continue to play an active role in supporting the Two-State Solution," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, launching a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 17.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Special Envoy Al-Habbash expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's consistent position in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people.

In particular, Utsus Palestine also expressed its gratitude to the Government and the people of Indonesia for the humanitarian assistance provided by Indonesia, especially for Gazans.

"I hope this cooperation in providing humanitarian assistance can continue to be improved through close coordination with the Palestinian Authority Government," said Palestinian Utsus Al-Habbash.

The meeting between Foreign Minister Sugiono and Utsus Palestine also highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to the deadlock in ceasefire negotiations and the importance of postwar reconstruction.

"The Indonesian government is working with civil society and philanthropic institutions to send more assistance, including the construction of Mother and Child Hospitals in Gaza," concluded Foreign Minister Sugiono.

It is known that the visit of the Palestinian Utsus Al-Habbash to Indonesia was in order to convey a special message from President Mahmoud Abbas to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Several Palestinian Utsus agendas in Indonesia include meeting with the leadership of the MPR RI, the DPR RI, religious organizations, and the agenda of Ramadan at the Istiqlal Mosque on March 15, 2025.
