The 2025 National Vesak Held On May 12 At Borobudur Temple

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the 2025 National Vesak Committee, Karuna Murdaya, reported that the National Vesak falls on May 12, 2025 and will be held at Borobudur Temple.

"We support Borobudur Temple as a place for Spiritual Tourism. Please attend the Minister and give a speech at the 2025 National Vesak," said Karuna Murdaya in Jakarta, Friday.

The report was submitted by Karuna during an audience with the Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar who was accompanied by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Religion Kamaruddin Amin and the Director General of Bimas Buddha Supriyadi.

Karuna said the Vesak commemoration would be attended by more than 150,000 people as well as witness the release of the lanterns at the peak of the Vesak night.

Various religious series that will be carried out include holding Social Service to 8,000 people (free medicine).

Furthermore, the Waisak procession agenda, from the Mendut Temple to Borobudur Temple and there is also a main stage in Borobudur which will hold a lantern festival.

"Bhikkhu, Sangha, and Buddhist leaders also really hope for the Minister's presence at this National Vesak event," he said.

Previously, the Indonesian Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar conveyed a message to Buddhists who would commemorate Waisak in 2025 to highlight sacredness during the commemoration of the sacred ceremony at Borobudur Temple.

"I hope that Vesak will not lose its sacred element. The sacred activities of Vesak humanity should not emphasize the aspect of celebration. Do not let the excitement defeat the depth. The appreciation of the depth of the meaning of Waisak is more important," said the Minister of Religion.

According to Nasaruddin, it is important to add to the sacredness of the Vesak commemoration by lighting candles in the hearts of the people.

"When someone comes out of the place of worship, the lens in his heart will be bright. Do not let the religious wonders be colored with something noble," he said.
