Expressing Grief For The KRI Naggala-402 Disaster, Jokowi: They Are The Best Patriots To Guard The Sovereignty Of The State

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi admitted that he had received a direct report that the status of KRI Nanggala-402 was raised from submission to subsection. This incident was both a deep and a shock to Indonesia.

"I have received a report from the TNI and KASAL Commander regarding efforts to find and rescue the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine, on Saturday, April 24, 2021 yesterday. The Indonesian Navy has raised the status of KRI Nanggala-402 from lost contact (submissed) to sinking ( subsunk), "said Jokowi through the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Sunday, April 25.

"This tragedy has shocked all of us, not only the families of the 53 crew members, the Kencana Hiu family and the big family of the Indonesian Navy but also the entire Indonesian people," Jokowi added.

In addition, Jokowi said that Indonesia is currently deeply mourning this disaster. Especially, to the families of the 53 crew members of the KRI Nanggala-402 ship who were left behind.

"We all Indonesian people convey deep sorrow for this tragedy, especially to the entire family of the submarine crew. They are the best sons of the nation, the best patriots who guard the country's sovereignty," said Jokowi.

However, Jokowi did not give up and continued to look for 53 crew members and the KRI Nanggala-402 vessel with all his best efforts. The Indonesian President also still hopes that the 53 submarine crews can still be saved.

"All our best efforts to search and rescue have been and are still going to do, for that, let us all offer our best prayers and best wishes for the 53 best patriots who guard the country's sovereignty and for all family members to be given patience, fortitude and strength," said Jokowi.
