JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ordered all parties to continue to search for the KRI Naggala-402 submarine. The ship has lost contact in Bali waters since April 21, 2021

"All the best efforts to search and rescue have been and are still being done", Jokowi explained via the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Sunday, April 25.

Thus, Jokowi asked the Indonesian people to continue praying so that the search and the 53 crew of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine would find a bright spot.

"Let all of us offer our best wishes and prayers for the 53 best patriots who guard the country's sovereignty. And for all family members to be given patience, fortitude, and strength", said Jokowi.

Jokowi admitted that the sinking of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine really shocked all Indonesians.

"This tragedy has shocked all of us. Not only the families of the 53 crew members, the Kencana Hiu family, and the big family of the Indonesian Navy but also the entire Indonesian people", said Jokowi.

It was previously reported that the submarine KRI Nanggala-402 lost contact in North Bali waters on Wednesday, April 21, will conduct training on the C 802 and Torpedo missiles.

Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono said at 03.00 am, KRI Nanggala requested permission to dive at a depth of 13 meters and was ready to fire a torpedo.

However, at 03.46 WIB, the sea rider monitored the periscope, and the identification light from the KRI Nanggala which started to dive, then was not visible.

"At 03.36 WIB until 03.46 WIB, (we) continued to call Nanggala but there was no response. So there should have been a periscope when it sank, it was still visible, but it immediately sank, there was no periscope", Yudo explained in a press conference last Thursday.

Yudo stated that at that time the communication had not been established, and the KRI Nanggala should have asked for authorization before firing. Then, he immediately asked to fly the helicopter to see the visuals, but to no avail.
