Commission V DPR Asks Government To Pay Attention To Regulations In Organizing Peak Areas

Sudjatmiko said that some areas of Puncak, which were previously water catchment areas, have now changed their functions. So that the ability of the soil to absorb water in the Puncak area is often said to have contributed to the flooding that hit Jabodetabek.

The first thing that must be considered is regulation. All stakeholders, both local and central governments, must jointly enforce regulations related to spatial planning," said Sudjatmiko, to reporters, Thursday, March 13.

In addition to regulations, Miko also emphasized the need for comprehensive infrastructure improvement. Such as restoring the function of reservoirs and dams in the Puncak area and adding infiltration wells.

"In that area, there are six reservoirs and dams whose functions are now starting to turn into tourist attractions. We try to return the function again. It doesn't mean we are anti-tourism, but this infrastructure must indeed be maximized to control flooding," he explained.

According to Miko, infiltration wells can be a solution to overcome flooding because they can absorb rainwater into the ground. This infiltration well, he said, can reduce the volume of water flowing on the surface so as to reduce flooding.

"In the dry season, infiltration wells can be water reservoirs," he said.

Therefore, the West Java electoral district legislator hopes that the government can take firm steps in structuring the Puncak area so that flooding that often occurs in Jabodetabek can be minimized.

"The balance between development, environmental conservation, and the tourism sector needs to be managed wisely so as not to have a negative impact on the wider community," he said.

Miko juga berharap kejadian banjir di kawasan Bekasi pada awal Maret 2025 dapat dicegah. Sehingga, tidak terjadi lagi banjir yang membuat hampir sebagian besar kota Bekasi lumpuh dan menganggu roda perekonomian.

Ia pun meminta Stakeholder seperti BPN/ATR, Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Pemda Jawa Barat bekerjasama mengembalikan asal mula lahan.

"Stakeholders cooperate to return the function of land origin. Do a reforestation to the forest so that the Bekasi flood does not happen again," he concluded.
