Rano Karno Responds To Criticism Of Flood Monitoring With Rubber Boats

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno opened his voice on criticism from a number of parties as he monitored the locations affected by flooding in Jakarta using rubber boats.

This activity occurred when Rano visited Jalan Cambodia, Lebak Bulus, Cilandak, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 4, to check flood conditions and talk with affected residents. Rano had time to get on a rubber boat to get to the location.

Some people think that Rano should not get on a rubber boat while reviewing the flood. They also compared with President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka who came to the location affected by the flood and walked to meet residents.

"Of course every action will not be possible to please everyone. We have to choose, right. Of course, if we have to choose, we have to choose a large number," said Rano in the National Monument area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, March 12.

Rano also considered that there were certain reasons why he used rubber boats. Likewise with the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, who monitors floods using helicopters. According to Rano, he must be able to move quickly in taking flood control policies.

"This means that Mas Pram's visit by air and travel, by land, by the Deputy Governor, does not mean that he does not coordinate. It is deliberately so that we can determine what policy," he explained.

Previously, Pramono Anung also responded to scorn from a number of parties about the activity of monitoring floods by helicopter on Thursday, March 6. Pramono Anung monitors the current flood situation by air using helicopters belonging to the Baharkam Polri Water and Air Police Corps (Polairud).

Pramono admitted that he received the criticism leveled at him. However, he also emphasized that the flood monitoring activity by helicopter was not of his own accord.

"Criticism is a very healthy medicine. I was criticized for any gratitude, thank you, thank you, thank you. And I was riding a helicopter, not my request. Someone offered it," said Pramono at Kramat Jati Main Market, East Jakarta, Monday, March 10.
